Peacock Fandango

Here are some pictures of my latest Crazy Quilt I have started.

The center peacock in this block is machine embroidered by me and then hand beaded. I painted the lace motifs on the block. The large cross stitch piece is a vintage piece I found in a garage sale somewhere. I have the original transfer as well and am going to try putting that on silk dupionni and then stitching with silk thread. The original piece shown here is a very thin muslin. This will be the center block of the crazy quilt in progress.

Crazy Quilt Vest

These are pics of a crazy quilt vest I am working on. I have lots more beading to do but it is getting there. This is the first vest I have attempted to make. I am only CQing the front panels. Once the vest is finished I shall post some final pics. Can you tell my favorite color is blue! I also just love Beatrix Potter and all her stories - I grew up with them and read them over and over as a child, then read them to my daughter who is now 20 - she loves the stories too! Anyway just had to include my favorite characters in the vest - Mrs. Tiggywinkle and of course Peter and his sister's.

Mum's Crazy Quilt

This is a quilt I made for my mother's 80th birthday in 2005. I actually finished it and gave it to her in person on her 81st birthday in Queensland, Australia where she lives. The quilt celebrates her life with pictures of her from a baby to current. All the motifs, embroideries etc are elements from either her New Zealand/Australia heritage as a wheat farmers wife for 50 years and include her various hobbies along the way especially her love of gardening and roses. It was joy to make and Mum has it hanging in her living room for all her visitor's to see.

Piecemakers Quilt

This is a quilt from the 2001 Piecemaker's Calandar. I have been working on this piece for the last 4 or 5 years off and on. I have now completed all the blocks and am in the process of putting the whole thing together at this point. This was a lot of fun to do and basically this was how I "learned" crazy quilting!! I have really enjoyed doing this. Next to stitching, gardening is my passion so of course I love all the different flowers in the center of each block. I will post a pic of the finished piece when it is done.

Cornucopia

This was inspired by Baltimore Album blocks I am working on. I wanted something to celebrate the Thanksgiving season with.

Journal Cover

This is a small journal cover I created for a journal that accompanied my block on a recent round robin for crazy quilting. First pic is the journal front and the second is the back.
